I had a friend in college named Scott. He met a girl on vacation and they hit it off right away. She lived in Virginia and they stayed in contact and grew closer as time passed. The night after they decided that they would move to be closer to each other, Scott got a phone call that she passed away after being hit by a drunk driver. I couldn't think of anything to say but I went to the study lounge in our dorm and wrote this song as soon as I found out.
